Jackson's Photos

  1. Well the first thing I noticed about all of his work was the relative look of simplicity and cleanness of them. The first one had three basic images in use, all of which had a very patriotic meaning to them. The background was the British flag, inside the middle box was the image of the inauguration of President Obama with the faded image of the American flag. I took this as some kind of theme of the progression of history, with the past being the British flag then the American flag symbolizing the independence from the British. This all followed by the very historic moment in American history where an African American becomes inaugurated for his presidency.

Then in the second piece has the most images included in it. About 14 different images of nature, primarily of landscapes occasionally with people and several of them have the general emphasis on the focal point in the images. On top of all these images is the faded image of the earth on top of all the images.

The final work of his sent a very strong and clear message. The five cut-outs of people holding hands colored in with an image of the French revolution and the very legendary symbol of unifying and rising up: the clenched fist. Then in the left corner is a bigger version of the world recognized clenched fist. Finally next to the clenched fist, is the well-known, and somewhat controversial icon: Ernesto Guevara, who is to some the very symbol of revolution. The overall statement of the clenched fist, Che Guevara, and the people read out to be a certain sense of rising together to fight and create a revolution.
